Abstract: Zinc(II)-protoporphyrin (ZnPP) and methacrylic acid (MAA) were used as functional monomer to synthesize molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) for the selective recognition of cytosine. By batch adsorption studies, the recognition of MIP for nucleobases was investigated. The result shows that the adsorption percentage difference between MIP and NMIP with C (cytosine) is 20.8 %, much larger than that of A (adenine), T (thymine), and U (uracil). The MIP taking cytosine as template has selective recognition for cytosine.
