Abstract: Molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was synthesized with vanillin as template molecule, methacrylic acid as functional monomer and ethylene glycol dimethyl acrylate as crosslinker. The adsorption behavior of the resulting molecularly imprinted polymer synthesized with different porogens for vanillin in aqueous solution was evaluated. Results show that the molecularly imprinted polymer synthesized in the presence of acetonitrile as the porogen has high affinity and strong recognition ability for vanillin. This makes it feasible for the synthesized MIP to be used for separation and enrichment of vanillin with the advantages of simple operation and high accuracy.
