Abstract: Noncovalently imprinted polymer systems contain recognition sites defined by complementary interactions between the imprint, or template, species, and the polymer matrix. The specificity of these sites for their imprint molecule are comparable to those observed in biological systems. These systems should prove valuable for the study of the factors governing molecular recognition phenomena. A previously described approach to the semiquantitative analysis of reversible noncovalent bi- molecular association of peptides appears suitable for the study of these systems. The adaption of this technique to the study of molecular recognition in imprinted polymer systems will be discussed, along with implications for the design of molecularly imprinted polymer systems.
