Abstract: Objective: To compare performance and application of two types of melamine molecularly imprinted polymers. Methods: The two molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) were synthesized by polymerization for 24 h in 60°C using α-methylacrylic acid (MAA) and acrylamide (AM) as the function monomer respectively, melamine as the template molecular, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as the cross-linker agent and 2,2-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as the initiator. The specific indentification function and the hydrogen bonding force to melamine, and the application of molecularly imprinted solid phase exraction column were studied. Results: The two polymers could specially recognize melamine. The results studied of equilibrium binding experiment showed that the interaction between the hydrogen bonds of melamine and MAA was stronger than that of melamine and AM, and the prepared polymer with MAA as functional monomer showed stronger and better binding ability to melamine. In addition, the melamine molecularly imprinted polymers with MAA as functional monomer was grinded, sieved, washed and packed into cartridges. The recovery of the solid phase extraction (SPE) pillar was more than 90% testing by HPLC. The recoveries of melamine from milk powder and milk were in the range of 90.4% ~ 95.8% and 91.5% ~ 92.7%, respectively. Conclusion: The samples were pretreated according to the solid phase extraction column to carry out the detection of real milk. The MIPs-SPE pillar got higher recovery, less reagent and shorter time. Satisfactory result was obtained for the determination of melamine in sample.
