Abstract: Pd(II)-imprinted polymer was prepared by the technique of surface modification of silica gel. Specific property of the Pd(II) ion imprinted polymer was studied and compared with those of non-imprinted polymer. Values of maximum static adsorption capacity of the imprinted polymer and non-imprinted polymer for Pd(II) ion were found to be 26.71 mg g-1 and 10.13 mg g-1 respectively, which showed that much higher selectivity was attained by the imprinted polymer for Pd(II) as compared with the selectivity of the non-imprinted polymer. The proposed method was used as an effective method for enrichment of Pd(II) ion in its ICP-AES determination in geological samples. Results obtained were in consistency with the standard values.
