Abstract: Molecular imprinting is a powerful technique that has been getting attention lately because of the prospect of creating synthetic polymers with highly specific recognition capabilities. In this review, we have outlined the process by which these polymer are prepared, what is known of the molecular mechanism of the process, and the fields in which the technique might find application. We have included representative examples of applications used up to date and pointed out some potential applications as well as the trends in recent research
