Abstract: Mn-doped ZnS quantum dots (QDs) capped by a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) were synthesized, then QDs and chitosan were mixed, and the hybrid membrane was fabricated onto the quartz surface. A fast, sensitive and selective method was established to detect trace 4-nitrophenol (4-NP) based on the fluorescence quenching of hybrid membrane by 4-NP. In addition, a good linear relationship between fluorescence response and concentration of 4-NP could be obtained in the range from 1.0 to 8.0 μmol/L, the detection limit was 41 nmol/L. The hybrid membrane is stable and can be regenerated by immersing into ethanol. The method was also used in the real water samples, and the recoveries can fall in the range of 95.5%-103.0%.
