Abstract: Objective: To prepare propranolol (PL) molecularly imprinted monolithic column and to study its bonding speciality. Method: A propranolol molecularly imprinted monolithic column was prepared by in site technique, using propranolol as template molecule, methacrylic acid (MAA) as a function monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDMA) as a cross-linker, and toluene and dodecanol as porogenic solvents by in site technique. The bonding speciality was studied by Scatchard analysis. Results: The optimal polymerization conditions were as follows: the proportion of template-monomer was 1:4; the degree of cross linking was 85%; the percentage of toluene in porogenic solvents was 18%. Scatheard analysis showed that two classes of binding sites existed in the PL-imprinted polymers, with their Kd and Q(max)estimated to be 3.836 x 10-5, 1.026 x 10-3mol L-1; 69.15 and 263.63 μmol g-1,respectively.Conclusion:The prepared polymers could be used as the separation media of propranolol with good specific recognition ability and high binding capacity.
