Abstract: A kind of Cu(II) ion imprinted magnetic composite adsorbent (Cu(II)-IMB) was synthesized by ion imprinting technique in order to improve the selective adsorption for certain heavy ions. SEM, EDX, XRD, FTIR and VSM were used to study the structure identification of Cu(II)-IMB and its components. The selective adsorption and other physical characters of the composite adsorbent were stdudied. Results show that Cu(II)-IMB has high selective adsorption for Cu(II) in water, and its adsorption capacity can be improved by 24%, 33% and 54% in contrast to NIMB, CMB and MB, respectively. The adsorption capacity is decreased by 14% after reuse for five times. This new adsorbent has a good mechanical intensity and reuse, it has magnetism and can be separated from solution quickly after adsorption. It is concluded that Cu(II)-IMB is low and mass-produced.
