Abstract: The polymers are able to recognise specific chemical substances or substrates. The reconigition mechanism uses the interaction between specific cavities or seats in the polymer and specific substances whose molecular shape fits the cavities in the polymers. The polymers are based on acrylic or vinyl monomers and are made in the presence of the substrate. After polymerisation and extraction, a molecular imprint is left in the polymer.
