Abstract: Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) have several advantages including predetermined structure and effect, specific recognition, chemical stability and wide practicability. Therefore, they have been widely applied in food inspection, chemical analysis, pharmaceutical separation and analysis, etc. This paper summarizes the basic principle of molecular imprinting and surface molecular imprinting technique and presents a systematic review of several innovative MIPs used for the analysis of foods and drugs. Furthermore, future development trends are discussed.
